2020 Water Fluency Program in Southwest Colorado

June 23, 2020 - June 24, 2020

Hosted by Water Education Colorado

A professional development course to help you understand water and lead with confidence

The Water Fluency Program offers immersion in the language of water as well as tools for navigating the culture, complexity and future of water management and policy issues.

This program is for anyone interested in learning more about water. Typical participants are involved with making decisions about water, but may feel they lack basic background on water management and the regulatory environment to confidently make those decisions.

Participants will learn about water through four in-person classroom discussion days, water-focused site visits, webinar-based trainings, online discussions, and inter-session reading assignments and applications of learning. Course curriculum covers topics of statewide relevance:
– Colorado’s water resources
– Legal and institutional frameworks
– Water resource management
– Colorado water for the future

This year we’re bringing the program to the southwest for the first time, with sessions in:

Durango, June 23 and 24
Cortez, September 2 and 3

The class capacity is only 35 and WILL fill quickly!

Registration is open from March 24, 2020 – May 1, 2020 or until class is full.

*We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 response and guidelines and will adjust Water Fluency Program delivery methods as needed. The full program will be delivered to participants who register, but the first session may be offered in a virtual format if we are unable to hold it as an in-person session. If this transition to a virtual format becomes necessary for the first session, we will ensure the experience is every bit as robust as it would have otherwise been.
