In Colorado, like much of the West, communities must be prepared for climate extremes on both sides of the spectrum – from drought to flooding. Localized Green Infrastructure (GI) strategies are climate-resilient water management solutions that can help cities to manage stormwater runoff while providing a host of additional benefits including increased access to green space, reduced heat island effect, opportunities for recreation and physical activity, increased habitat for pollinators and wildlife, and groundwater recharge.

Join us for an overview of GI including the variety of solutions available in Colorado, their associated benefits, and what to consider when integrating GI into land development projects. We will hear from the City of Fort Collins about their extensive GI program and how they evaluate their impact. Finally, we will highlight relevant resources and tools to help implement and fund GI solutions including WaterNow Alliance’s Tap into Resilience toolkit.
