Biography

William H. Romme is professor emeritus of ecology at Colorado State University. His 1979 dissertation at the University of Wyoming dealt with fire history and landscape diversity in Yellowstone National Park. Dr. Romme was born in Denver, CO, and grew up in Albuquerque, NM. He has been fascinated by forests since an early age. Since receiving a PhD degree in 1979, Dr. Romme has worked as a faculty member at Eastern Kentucky University, Fort Lewis College (Colorado), and CSU. He continues to study the ecological role of fires and other disturbance processes in forests of the Rocky Mountains and elsewhere.
