Biography

Ryan is a water resources engineer whose research focuses on sustainably integrating ecological and human needs into water resource management, both from engineering and social science perspectives. His work emphasizes the impacts of river management on aquatic ecosystems and explores new methods for mitigating management effects. Recently Ryan’s work has focused on understanding the importance of river-floodplain connectivity in large-scale river management and how restoration efforts can better incorporate floodplain connectivity.
