Agricultural Irrigation
Technologies
Research on agricultural irrigation technologies continues to be important to Colorado and its conservation efforts to guarantee access to quality water resources into the future.
Irrigation technology research

Perry Cabot, Extension Professor, leads irrigation innovation research in the Upper Colorado and Gunnison River Basins. His work includes:
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning to define more optimal irrigation prescriptions with variable rate irrigation.
- Timer and sensor automated water restriction panels to improve wild flood irrigation.
- Sensor-based irrigation and water resources management using Long Range (LoRa) Networks.

The problem we’re trying to solve with the irrigation system is how we can apply less water to the field, how do we apply less water but get the same or even a better result?
