Biography

Dr. Suter’s research program addresses policy-relevant issues related to land use and water resource economics. The research primarily relies on empirical analysis that utilizes spatial modeling, survey research, and experimental methods to analyze how humans respond to the incentives generated by resource characteristics and management policies. Current research that Dr. Suter is engaged in assesses the economic tradeoffs associated with groundwater management using hydro-economic modeling, the impact of social comparisons and incentives on water resource use and reporting behavior, the performance of policies aimed at improving surface water quality, and the incentives that underlie recreation behavior on public land.
