Biography

Sara Rathburn is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Colorado State University. Her research interest is in fluvial geomorphology, broadly focused on drainage basin response and recovery following disturbances, the timing of arroyo incision and floodplain forest establishment, the effects of invasive vegetation removal on channel morphology, and glacial valley evolution. Current research with her graduate students includes work in the Upper Colorado, North St. Vrain, Big Thompson, Cache la Poudre, and Yampa River watersheds in CO. She is also working with students on the controls on mass movement occurrence and the effects of climate change in Denali National Park and Preserve AK, drainage basin response to climate warming, Alto Adige basin, Italy, and the effects of afforestation on channel stability in Iceland.
